Since launching my very first Kickstarter campaign about two hours ago, I’ve been checking the website every five minutes and compulsively eating chocolate cake. I’m generally not a nervous eater, but there’s something about this project -- the enormity of it -- that has me pacing the living room, staring blankly out the window, and reaching for chocolate.
Yes, I have always wanted to write a book, and yes this is the closest I have to come to making that dream a reality. But even more than that, I want to write the story of the DeSoto family because I truly believe in it and think it needs to be told.
Stories have a powerful way of teaching us. They can bring hope and clarity and make us feel less alone. Books have given me all of those things over the years. They have helped me process life, understand others, connect with God, and gain a renewed sense of possibility.
I have no idea what will happen with this project, but I couldn’t be more excited.
